Frequently Asked Questions

How long are sessions? A typical individual session and couples counseling sessions are 50 minutes and take place remotely. Extended sessions are an option; these range from 1-2 hours. The frequency (weekly/biweekly) is determined based on your needs. We offer flexibility to accommodate your schedule and preferences. * Session Rate: The rate for an individual 50 minute session is $150 and we do offer a sliding scale.

What insurances are accepted? We are currently only able to accept insurance for NY clients. - Aetna - Cigna - United Health Care - MagnaCare - Local 810

What should I expect during my first therapy session? During your first therapy session, we'll discuss your reasons for seeking therapy and any specific concerns or goals you have. This session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other, explore your history, and establish a comfortable, supportive environment. We'll also talk about what you hope to achieve in therapy and how we can work together to meet your needs. ​ Sessions may look different for different people. Please let us know if you prefer more/less structure or a specific method of therapeutic intervention. If you are unsure, we will help you figure out what may work best for you!

Can I use my HSA/FSA card to pay for sessions? Yes! You can use your HSA/FSA card. You would upload it as you would a regular credit or debit card on the portal!

What should I ask my insurance company if my insurance is out-of-network? Here are some questions we recommend you start with:  Do I have out of network benefits for mental health services? Is there is a deductible; if there is, what percentage will the insurance reimburse you for after it is met? Will an itemized superbill be enough to submit? *You may need some information on the practice to provide to your insurance company, please reach out so we can provide it!​

What if my insurance isn't accepted? If you have an insurance that we do not accept, you are able to seek potential reimbursement for therapy services through your out-of-network benefits. We can provide you with a detailed invoice, also known as a superbill, which you can submit to your insurance company. We recommend contacting your insurer beforehand to understand your reimbursement policies.

What are the benefits of paying out-of-pocket? Paying out-of-pocket offers several benefits, including increased privacy and confidentiality since your therapy records are not shared with insurance companies. Additionally, it allows for greater flexibility in the length and frequency of sessions, ensuring that your treatment plan is entirely customized to your needs without external limitations.
